Vulcan’s core businesses are in the supply, installation and maintenance of rubber products. We have chosen to be involved with rubber recycling in order to reduce the environmental impact of waste rubber within our industry.
There is a problem with waste rubber, especially from used tyres but also in the manufacture of rubber goods. Since July 2006, an EU landfill directive has banned whole and shredded tyres from landfill sites.
- Is an excellent way to dispose of unwanted rubber products.
- Conserves non-renewable petroleum products, which are used to produce synthetic rubbers.
- Mechanical reduction by shredding and granulation.
- Thermal recovery as an additive fuel in cement kilns.
- Whole disposal in land engineering solutions.
- De-vulcanisation by chemical processes.
- To recycle 100% of our own waste rubber.
- To engage with organisations across the UK to recover their scrap rubber.
